Some parking spaces at Sandwich High School were vandalized Friday night with sexual images and swastikas, according to school Superintendent Pamela Gould.
The parking lot is scheduled to be repaved next summer, and students this year started a fundraising project in which they paint their assigned parking spot, Gould wrote in an email. On Friday night, some of those paintings were vandalized, she wrote.
The vandalism was reported to the school administration Saturday, Gould wrote, and an email was sent to parents alerting them about what happened and that the matter had been reported to police.
The administration team is reviewing camera footage to see what they can learn about the incident, Gould wrote. As of Saturday night, all the affected parking spots had been painted over, according to Gould.
“I am proud of the response of our administration on a weekend,” she wrote. Sandwich police did not provide further information Saturday night.
